Hi All,

Looking at getting an A3 printer, I have been and looked at the Canon 9500 MKII and was impressed with the quality.

I have been searching the internet reading reviews for the 2 printers and have tried to find a head to head review but could only find the 2880 vs. 9500 not the MKII.

The reviews of the 2880 look really good and the replacement ink comes out cheaper as well.

Not too sure which way to go now, my last 2 printers have been Canon and I was and am happy with them although they are A4 printers.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can't comment on the A3 printers, but I used to have an Epson A4 printer and now have a Canon one and much prefer the Canon printer. I get better prints from it, also get no waste ink left in the cartridges, whereas the Epson no matter what I tried, always had ink left in when it said to replace as they were empty - I think this was due to the chip and they estimate how many prints you've done and how much ink it should use. The Canon chip measures how much ink is in (or not in as my last cartidge i changed last week the reserviour was completely empty).

Not sure if this is any help, but I won't be choosing another Epson in a hurry.

Thanks,

must say that I do like my Canon printer and have had no problems with the ink, but the reveiws on the 2880 look great.

Perhaps they've changed the ink system - might be worth trying to find out ?

been searching a bit more for prices and reveiws and can get the Epson 2880 for £498 delivered which I think is a good price.

Has anyone here used either of these printers, if so, what are your thoughts on them?

On the reveiws, they say they have some sort of system to stop overspray when printing, producing sharper images. Some sort of vacum system it sounds like that will help stop blockages. Cant find anything on cartridge levels though.

I've a 2880 having been a liftime Epson user. Tried to get a look see at the Canon at Focus, but the staff seemed more interested in talking to other people. Went to the Epson stand, had a great demo of both 1900 and the 2880. Lots of helpful advise and suggestions.. Bought one.

Even though it use tend to be a bit intermittent no problems with nozzles clogging. Just wish they supplied bigger ink carts.

I've read that the first set of inks are used faster as the printer primes itself? On average would you say that the ink usage is about the same or worse than previous printers you have had?

Thanks

not faster its just that the ink is used to prime rather than just put ink to paper. still uses the same amount. I use a fotospeed CIS which pays for itself over 20 carts.
