Error showing

Have a d3100. When I press shutter on all modes it says error press shutter button again. Do this nothing happens. Any ideas

take the battery out then back in again.

i can only think of 2 things that might help
1, do you have a problem with your memory card this can be a source of your camera refusing to take a picture

2. is your lens seated correctly

Not much help i know but worth a look

also are the contacts on lens and camera clean - if not clean them (gently) with a pencil eraser - I know nuthinns about nikon - but on Canon dirty contacts is a common cause of throwing err99.

Did you manage to get things working again ? ifso what was the problem
i ask as mine is now working properly it was down to me obviously fiddling with the menus when i shouldn't have been and thanks to some helpfull people on here it got sorted
