This is my first post so forgive me if I've repeated an already covered topic. :)
I've just bought a sekonic L308B lightmeter and understand most of its' functions, other than the EV mode. I gather its a combination of shutter speed and apeture, but when would I use this, ....... I'm concerned that I'll not use the meter to it's full potential.
Thanks in advance......... Eric

Hi Eric, I'd suggest you put your feet up and forget about EV mode unless it drives you mad. Roughly speaking, it measures an Exposure Value and this is a combination of aperture and shutter speed. If you use your meter normally, you'll see that you get a combination of shutter speed and aperture(f) and that if you change the speed, the aperture value also changes. This is to allow you to choose a higher shutter speed or a wider aperture while still keeping exposure the same, which is effectively an Exposure Value.

Now some cameras and lenses are calibrated this way, particularly Hasselblads, so you are always setting the EV on them, but unless you can really get to grips with it, you're better off just choosing a shutter speed and aperture(f) value and doing it that way. I somehow doubt that this is as clear as it should be, but hopefully someone else might make it clearer!

wow Peter....thanks for the swift reply...... I Like the first part " I'd suggest you put your feet up and forget about EV mode unless it drives you mad". I was hoping this was the case..... as long as I know I don't need to worry abouts its' use, thats good enough for me...... Thanks once again :)
(.... arn't forums great) :)
