Yes
as i have just come across another problem on my previous thread here is the issue

im after basically excell online where it can be edited online and be updated online and if you log in or some one else logs in it only updates the excell downloading it is no use

Any ideas i dont mind spending money but it has to be realistic it is works credit card :suspect:

Can you not do this on a webpage using MS Office web components?

I too was going to suggset google docs :( it really is the best online office replacement.

The only other option you are looking at is maybe converting it and having it placed in to an SQL database with a front end allowing you to edit and search for information?

What info is it you are storing?

yes but that means uploading and downloading and this is no use to me

it needs to be able to edi online because if my colleague who works from home edits something and doesnt tell me then he mave have a updated version and when i down laod and over wright my file i may have updated version diffrent to his making it very difficult to have the correct info if any one can uderstand that lol

Why can't you just use specific version numbers, allowing you to ensure you have the very latest version? Also, this could allow you to archive any interim versions, so if there was an error you can (quite) easily get back to the last known good version and update it.

I think you'll be limited with what you can do - you don't want to upload or download, but all online docs are going to have to have some form of upload or download in order for you to get new or save new data.

Could you create an online page which is updatable? Even then, if 2 people connect and update at the same time there's a good chance that someone is going to lose the work they are doing....

poss option but i think it is the uplaod and download situation again
the only issue is it is easier having it in one file

I meant splitting it down, say to be small enough to work with Google Docs, say pages 1-15 and 15+ or something? Or are the pages all interlinked?

couple of issues i think the 11st the idea of version numbers would bef= good idea but i have to serve the counter at work while im updating this i dont and can easily side track from what i orginally was doing online and save would be ideal rather then uploading the ideas of backing up is spot on too

the only other thing to do is use a online cataogue but i would need it to have trade price also retail price os commerce etc would be a pain to do i think as for a proper parts catalgue but the problem is that if i use a specific part number this confilicts with any system as one part may fit 5 diffrent bikes not just that also diffrent bike models ie cbr 600 have run for that long i think there is in region of 15 diffrent mirrors off top of my head this would also cause problems i have a on pc only version and is a nightmare so it was scrapped but the excell works niclely

So it's a database you're after? DB's are very different and most will allow multiple users to read and write to the DB simultaneously, depending on rules and access permisssions. I think you should be looking at SQL or Access or similar for this, not excel. If you need to use calculations etc (IE Excel stuff) then I guess that's different...
