I have my cameras and lenses and very few extras.. But the Expo Disc I bought from these very forums a few months ago is a complete and utter godsend... It really does do a bob on job in orange sportshalls type enviroments and gives me perfect white balance... I ahve never been a fan of all this shoot a rubbish picture and fix later approach and usually set my white balance pre shoot in various ways.. But the expo disc is so simple and does a much better job..

Im guessing you just buy the biggest to cover all your lenses, well most anyway @77mm.
 
I got the 77 that fits on my 70-200 .. one white balance is set in camera its still there when changing lens..
 
The 1dx is great.. i can name and save the white balance for all my regular sports halls and just select when i go back :)

In the enviroments i work.. changing lens long to short the white balance stays and works great.. don't know in a studio when it's so exact and lighting in shorter lens is effected.. All I know is in my world.. set the white balance and your good to go ... just need to remember if i put flash on for presentations at end of day to reset WB :)
 
I don't know... if you're not using the expodisc for incidence metering then I don't think there's a big advantage to it over any of the $5 WB lens caps. Plus, they are lens caps and not a $50 filter. They can also be used for incidence metering once you figure out how far they are off, but I don't really see the point.

Yes, I have used an expodisc; and I have also used the cheapo WB lens caps (still have a couple somewhere). Personally I don't mess w/ it unless it's a color critical situation, and in that case I use a color checker.
