Whats the best DPI to export at? And Why?

Many Thanks

Matt

DPI means nothing unless you're setting the size in inches/cm too. Generally for prints I export at 300dpi and set the size in inches and then LR works out the correct pixel size.

The answer will depend on the output device you are exporting to, for example the fuji frontier lab machine outputs at 300dpi and the Polieletronica Laserlab for poster prints outputs at 354ppi,while 240ppi or 480ppi would be best for a Epson printer.

Of course if you are happy with the printer doing the alterations for output rather than yourself and most people are then it matters not.

Thanks, well at the minute they will be just for online use. I will get them sent off though at some point to some where like truprint or photobox, so what would be best for them 500DPI in inches.

I think both use Fuji so 300 dpi is what you need.

For online use 72dpi will be fine.

Thank you guys!
