Extension tube for 100mm macro lens

Have recently bought a Canon 100mm f2.8 L macro lens and I would like to get an extension tube for it. Would I be better getting the 12mm or the 25mm. I know that they allow you to focus closer but not sure by what ratio it changes the minimum focus distance.

I bought both when i was confused, but i remember that 25mm was more fun, but maybe 12mm will give you little more working space over 25mm, start with 12mm and later add the other one if you need it.

Can't you test both before you buy any?
 
Thanks for the reply. No-one stocks them where I live and I don't know anyone who has one.
 
Have a look at some of the other makes, I've got a Kenko set and that comes with 3 rings while Canon only do the 2 sizes. As long as you get the AF set you can't go wrong. It's not like there's any glass to degrade the image, you just might find you need a bit more light to get the best out of them. I use mine on my 100 f2.8L and the size difference is amazing. The Canon lens in itself always suprizes me with the IQ, a set of tubes and a good lighting setup will blow you away. You could also have a look at the Raynox 250, they make a very good addition for not a great amount.
 
Cheers guys. I have ordered the Kenko set. I've just got a iffy flash bracket set up that let's me position a 270 speedlite over the lens so I guess i will be out for a bit of practice soon.
