external battery pack for 430ex Mk II

where can i find these packs? got fed up off black frames when shooting due to only being battery powered

only prob is i dont know what they are called i was told but forgot :cuckoo:
 
Could be one of three I think:

Battery Pack CD-E4 (can also get Battery Magazine CPM-E4 as a back up)
Transistor Pack E
Transistor Pack Ni-Cad
 
But there in nowhere to plug an external transistor pack on the 430ex II. not that I can find any way :)

it slots into where the normal batterys would go but with a curled lead coming from the top end and then to the battery pack, it requires that the battery door stays open but the flash will always fire when you want it to, but canons says what you say

must be a third party battery pack
 
I take it you are still having problems with continuous shooting and the flash not firing every time

yes to an extent, i have it firing continuous, but it doesn't last that long, but with these external packs it just keeps on going, a guy i spoke to had a 430ex with an external pack and swore by it as he never missed a shot due to the flash failing to fire even after extended bursts of shots
 
full power i assume, as i was also shooting full power with just normal batteries but for a fraction of the time and missing lots of shots
 
When you get one, please post up your findings, i`d be very interested to know
I've tried with a fully charged set of energiser 2600`s and it still misses 2 out of 3 flashes when on full power using continuous .

this is it it comes with an adaptor which sits in the battery compartment not cheap mind @ just under 200

If that's the best it can achieve then the flash still wont fire 2 out of 3 shots on continuous
 
i can fire my flash 13 times @ full power @3.5fps on batteries that are partly used (just tried it), my issue is that when the batteries are weak i miss shots alot of shots and this pack will just keep on going so no missed shots

also found that it will only fire continuously if the lens cap is off
 
why not get some more batteries and when they get low, swap them:shrug:
save yourself a few quid

You sure ? mine doesn't
What mode have you got it in. Switch to manual and select 1/1. That way it ensures you have full power selected

when i do that it doesn't fire continuously, :thinking:

so i guess its not fireing full power shot after shot, but i still do get continuous bursts

i have it on ettl and the flash is pointed forwards towards the subject (i have found it wont fire if flash is bounced)
 
ettl is automatically adjusting the power. Its more than likely when you are at the short end of the zoom you can get continuous flash, then as you flip to bounce mode it puts the power up, hence no more continuous flashes
