Hi all,

Hoping there's an expert out there who can help me before my head explodes.

I've just got an eye fi 8GB Pro X2 card, which I want to use with my Windows 7 laptop. It works fine with a router but direct mode just will not work. Trouble is I'm just not 'up' on Windows 7 as I should be...

I've traced the problem to Windows - its setting the ad hoc network as public. The firewall then just will not allow files to transfer. I can find NO way to permanently configure the network to either Home or Work whatsoever. I found a way to temporarily do this, as soon as I did file transfers started happening and were pretty fast, but then the network dropped out (I think because the camera went to sleep briefly) and of course, when I reconnected the network it was back to being a public network :bang::bang::bang:

This is just useless! Surely there must be a way to make this work properly?

Eye-Fi is a great idea hampered by dreadful drivers, crap software and poor support. It took me AGES to get my 8gb Pro X2 card to work in Direct mode with my 5DII and iPad. I was on the cusp of giving up. The supplied software just does not work. After literally hours of faff I got it to work and it still does (just about /touches wood) but I half expect it to fall over at any point. It's certainly no good for mission-critical tasks as it's just not reliable enough. Good idea poorly executed.
