Facebook Facial Recognition

Just making sure I'm not losing the plot or something, but if someone has been tagged in a photo that you've uploaded onto Facebook in the past, does Facebook then process some sort of facial recognition and automatically tag that person in photos you upload in the future?

And it was a low light, high ISO grainy photo with the guy quite far away and Facebook picked him out no problem! Spooky.

I'm wondering if Facebook provide access of this database of photos and personal information to outside agencies etc? It wouldn't surprise me and they probably charge a hefty fee as well.

As for gait recognition, it wouldn't surprise me if the UK and USA already have it. Delve into the world of CCTV, the servers where most of the footage runs through and who really owns and controls these servers and combine this with gait recognition....well they then have a truly huge resource on their hands.
