hi I think my account has been hacked. I received an email from facebook saying that I had brought 270000000 chips at texas holdem poker at a cost of £90.50 -visa number is wrong. a unkown device from London has logged into my account five times today last time 11am. since then I have changed my password, but can't find out how to contact facebook. when I looked at my account I found two card details- one for someone with the same name as me and also a women. details are different and none match mine ie last four numbers and expiry date. does anybody have any idea what I can do?

First things first, there are a lot of phoney emails going around pretending to be from Facebook, eBay, paypal etc saying similar things, someone has accessed/change your account etc.

Did you click the link in the email? If so that would be a phoney site and I would suggest downloading malwarebytes and run it asap as well as logging on to your Facebook from a separate machine which could not potentially be compromised and change your password. You say there are card details listed? Where is this s Facebook does not contain card details.

thanks for the fast reply. I have not followed any link on the emails. when I log in to facebook all my friends etc. are there. I will run some malware software in a minute.

hi I've run malwarebytes and there are no problems. is there a way of closing down my facebook account etc.

Easiest way to stop the logins is to set the security setting that requires login approval for any new devices so you could only have dodgy logins from someone that had access to your computer or phone etc.

I'd report the matter to the police too. With location and time information they can have a stab at finding out who did it and it's likely this won't be the only fraud they're involved in. Once you have copied all the device information from the miscreants then delete from the list and turn on login approvals.
 
hi Suz, I've copied all the inform including the names and card details (last four digts) their ip address etc.. and will pass the info on. I did set the new devices thing and received emails telling me that someone in London was accessing my account

Good to hear!

I have switched on the login approval system so if anything unauthorised tries to access my account, my phone will be texted a code which they'd need to login with... should stop all of them apart from the uber hackers!
 
hi went to the police station this morning, they are not interested. 'it's between facebook and visa' we have so many complaints about facebook and ebay that we just refer it back to them.

I had my eBay account hacked, they spent £1000 but luckily I was up at midnight so changed the passwords before they got to pay for the 5d mk II

They changed my address to one in Florida so after contacting paypal I emailed the local sheriff

Within 12 hours I had a reply asking for more details which I provided

Within 18 hours they'd been to the address which was a PO box receiving office and searched the box

Unfortunately it was rented from an overseas email address so there's not much else they could do but it has been shut down

I know if I'd reported something similar in the UK I'd have received the same response as you

They seem to take all crime more seriously in the US not just the violent crime
