fast glass ??

hi quite new to the game of DSLR and have seen some of you mention fast glass when talking about lenses do you mean the focus speed ???

It normally refers to a lens having a wide aperture, most often considered to be f/2.8 or lower.

It normally refers to a lens having a wide aperture, most often considered to be f/2.8 or lower.

Just to add a little bit of clarification, the wider the aperture the faster the shutter speed.

As above - the "fast" refers to the lenses ability to gather light quickly by having a wide potential aperture (i.e. a low "f" number), which will allow you to use a faster shutter speed when shooting.
