Filters for wide/ultra wide angle lens.

Hi. Am considering a wide angle within my budget. 'Photoplus' tests show the Tamron 10-24mm Di 11 as 'best value' and Tokina 11-16mm AT-X as 'best on test. (Although I'm wide open to any suggestions).
However, I've got Hightech 85mm filters for my D500 kit lens, 58mm. It seems the wide angles (above) are 77mm filter size. If I use a 77mm adapter for the 85mm filters, at what point, if any, can I expect vignetting. Or would it neccesary to go to 100mm.
For landscapes I won't be using a w/a lens at it's max aperture
or either extreme focal length.

With a Sigma 10-20mm WA and 100mm filters I just saw vignetting at 10mm I then used the Lee WA 77mm adapter and that resolved the problem. So I guess that with 85 mm filters you will see some vignetting at most focal lengths I think 100mm will be your best choice down to about 12mm when you will need the WA adapter.

I'm planning to buy a WA as well, and a thin profile Hoya 77mm filter to go with it. Are larger filters really necessary??

For single filters attatched direct to the lens no problems I use a thin frame Heliopan polariser and 10 stop ND with no problems but slide in grads like Lee and Cokin you will need 100mm.

I have used Hitech 85 on the Canon 10-22 and had some vignetting at 10 and 11mm. I ended up using Blu Tac without a filter holder and that solved the issue. You run the risk that they can fall off though. I have since switched to Lee filters, with a wide holder and have no issues now.

Ah thanks, won't be changing the order I had planned out then. And boy are the bigger thread size filters expensive!
