Haven't needed them for the type of pics I take but was just looking at getting a grad filter to see how it works with balancing out bright skies for certain sports events. 30 Years ago I had several Cokin slide filters with the holder so have some experience of using them but they got sold ages ago. Just having a look online and I could buy a 77mm Tiffen screw on col grad ND .6 filter which would suit my sports lens and my 16-35. I think this would probably do what I am hoping it will but keep looking at the Cokin system - there seems to be lots of Chinese copies of the mount and adapters for just a few pounds which I presume will house the standard Cokin slide filters - I suspect the filters available with the Chinese mount copies will be ultra crap plastic offerings.
Any tips re benefits of slide over screw mount,brands, type of grad appreciated.

Lee filters slot in system is what I'd personally recommend. That would be the Foundation Kit, adaptor ring (i.e. 77mm) and the filter itself - which from the sounds of it a 0.6 hard edge would be the best first step. The system is quite expensive compared to other systems like Hi-Tech.

Screw in grads have a weakness, that graduation is fixed, so that will compromise your composition

Cheers for replies. Scott - are you saying Lee Filters are the best quality? How far away from Cokin are they in terms of quality?
