First attempt at a star trail stack

My first ever attempt. Up Cairn O Mount in Aberdeenshire - used StarStaX

Didn't use any editing on the images (around 25 of them) - just stacked to see what would happen .

I really struggle with the XE-2 with the 18-55 to get good focus / aperture settings for really sharp images. The infinity focus doesn't quite yield what I would expect.

Not a bad attempt at all for a first try but to really make these work I think you need to get the north star in shot and have some kind of foreground interest so it's not just a shot of the stars.

Thanks, it's a really amazing landscape up there so I will try some better framing next time.

Looks great ...I guess once you have the technique sorted to get the star trail effect then you can replicate with varying foreground images and framing ... nice
