First attempt - wedding candids

I was a guest at a wedding yesterday and took these, my first shots of people. They're all straight from the camera and taken with the kit lens that came with my 350D. In terms of composition I didn't have a great deal of choice (none of the subjects were posed) but I think that some sympathetic cropping in Photoshop might help. Do you think they might benefit from sharpening or something too? Would it be better to write these off to experience and just bin them? My intention was to burn them to CD and give it to the bride.

I tried lots of different settings on the camera which I don't fully understand yet so if the exif reveals anything that might help I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

I'd be grateful for advice on how to improve as I really enjoyed taking them and would like to do better next time!

p.s. Patience paid off and I did eventually capture "the kiss" ;)

Dont bin them you mad woman!!!! :D I bet the bride would love these!!!!

Yes some could do with a crop etc, and I bet the couple in the last pic would love that one as well!!!! :)

:agree: with Betty, don't bin them.
Bit of a sharpen and a crop and you have a cracking set

They are good - number 2 is special!

If I was one of the guest I would like some of them as the are so natural

That's a good set of pictures, which I'm sure the bridal party and other guests would be delighted to see (y) Yes, a bit of level adjustment, sharpening, cropping etc needed, but fundamentally, you've captured the shots. #2, #7, #8 and #9 are the stand outs for me.

Thanks everyone :)

You were right on every count - they were quite presentable shots after some cropping, borders, and sharpening and I'm glad you advised me not to bin them!

I've e-mailed them to the people in shot and to the bride, all of whom are very pleased.

Some folks in the Image Editing section here worked some real magic on them too.

I'd have been chuffed to bits as well if they had been taken for me-well done!

I find that a little "dodging" on the teeth and the whites of eyes really helps make a face look better. But dont over do it.

Mick.
