Quite a neat pose it has struck for you there and not bad overall for a first one ...
It is always good with animals to 'get down to their level' when taking pics and also concentrate on getting the eyes really, really sharp ... ... the rest just follows on then ... ... supposedly ...
I actually like the angle of this one, though Ven of course is correct about getting down to the animal's level as a general rule of thumb.
As you have kitty so central (another bit of a no-no) it may have been better to go for a portrait, rather than landscape crop ... cut out all the deadspace on the sides.
Also a little sharpen would make a dramatic difference, here.
