First Bee of 2010

Finally the bees are around. In fact, last week I saw at least a couple of dozen Bumble bees when I was out for a walk. But today, the garden was the attraction.

The apple blossom is well and truly prominent now and is going to attract our friends as they go around on the hunt for tasty pollen & nectar, as the pollination process gets into full swing.

Here is my first bee photograph of 2010. Hand-held with flash assist - the day is windy and not easy - but it easier on more environmental than extreme close-ups.

This one, by the way, is a female bee.

I think this is an excellent close up shot,i dont know if i would have cropped a bit more off the right hand side,well done.
