First Post - Please be gentle!

Just back from 2 weeks in the Lakes. After 2000 (failed) photo attempts at landscapes and sunsets - decided this was the best of the holiday snaps! I don't even know what kind of butterfly it is? Used a cheapy Tamron 70 - 300 on macro setting. Just started photography this year so please be gentle...!

That is a really nice photo, there's a odd things that distract me a little like the white flowers but who cares. You show that photo to anyone and there gonna go wow. I never seem to get the chance to get these photos Well Done!

See what you mean about the white flowers - they do get in the way a bit.

I suppose it's a good advert for the Tamron 70-300 zoom which I got for £99 when I bought the Canon 450D. It's been a great lens so far and even though it's not got any image stabilisation, it's very easy to hold - even at the full 300 stretch. The 'macro' on it is very good too. Certainly would recommend it.

Cheers all! The butterfly has to take most of the credit though! He was a really helpfull wee chap and kept nice and still for me. Saw him on the railway walk beneath Lattrigg in Keswick. Brill walk for butterflies if you're ever in the area.
