As it says above was out trying out my new 40d +sigma
50-500. Poor lighting wasnt helping all c+c welcome, did use a monopod but think a tripod would have been better
Nice photo- curious to know the ISO setting you used? I was out doing much the same thing today and found ISO400 was the minimum speed I could use for handheld shots at F4, 200mm.
I was using iso 1250 to try and keep the shuter speed high, the sigma 50-500 is a bit heavy to hand hold and not much better with a monopod. The settings i used were 1/800 f5.6 iso 1250
That is not bad at all for a first stab at bird shots Macky ... ... it is a little bit grainy from the high ISO probably and it is also slightly over 'shopped as in over-sharpened and a little too much saturation ...
But very nice compositionally save for the errant twig and shows lots of promise ...
2nd version is worlds apart imho, much better controlled processing. 1st looks very oversharpened to me, the noise doesn't bother me overly much though.
(Just a quick suggestion - I'd recommend changing the copyright text on your images as the font isn't holding its quality )
