Whilst Im not new to using my camera, I am new to using any sort of flash other than onboard.

I fully understand the basics with regard to the triangle, but flash seems to throw the rulebook out of the window.

Ive been using off camera flash to take pics of the fish in my aquaria, with some success - but Its beginners luck really as I havnt got my head round the basics tbh.

Is there a website or book I can read that will run me through the basics and help me also understand ttl ?

Go check out Strobist 101. It's really really good, and disects all the shots people take on there...

Also worth a look is a book called - light science magic

I would also add in the speedliter's handbook

The author Syl Arena has a youtube video on the B&H channel which covers some of the stuff briefly. Might be worth a look to see if it's something you'd be interested it.

Mark, the books listed above are useful - for aquarium specific advice you could also try the photography section on Ultimate Reef forum.
