The garden is in heavy shade by late afternoon which usually rules out any useable shutter speeds with long lenses. I don't really like using flash because of the difficulty of getting the balance right and ending up with an unnatural looking shot. I did use flash for this one though and I'm quite pleased with the result.

Another great shot CT;)

Is it a young female chaffinch....or maybe a young siskin?

I love the backgound, it has a lovely texture to it

It's a young female Chaffinch Janice. There seem to be loads of them about at the moment.

Do you ever make birthday/xmas cards of your shots?

I used to Gloria, but I sort of grew out of it. These days I like to have as little to do with Xmas cards as possible. :D

super shot Cedric!

Very good shot - bokeh, composure, positioning of the bird in the frame. All first class (y)
