if its not cannon id go for a nissin or Yongnuo

what kind of price range were you thinking of spending and do you want to be able to fire it off camera

Yongnuo YN-568EX II great flash for 120 quid and can be fired off camera with a 60D, it is a bit complicated compared to others down the line but it does do everything you will need and probably more, the early yongnuo's had a reputation for being a bit flimsy but certainly now they are robust and well made in my opinion

the YONGNUO YN560 III again can be fired wirelesly from the camera but lacks some of the features of the 568 ie ETTL but it is only 56 quid

the nissin DI622 II iand DI866 II are great flashes, powerful and well made but if you want to fire it off camera you will need to look at getting some triggers

Hi Bleddyn, I've got a Nissin Di866 MkII and it's a great flash for the 60D. It's very powerful and it's E-TTL for ease of use. The wife has the original Di866 and that also works perfectly well with a 60D cause I've tried it when I had my 60D. I borrow the wifes flash on occasions to use it, and my Di866, as an off camera light fired by my Canon 580EX II. The Nissin can be checked out here http://www.nissindigital.com/di866mkii.html

I haven't got any other experience with other flashes, apart from a Nissin Di622 MkI which wasn't compatible with the 60D, 650D or 5D3 without a firmware update and I couldn't find anywhere locally that could do the update so I sold it and got the Second Di866 instead.
