I'm pretty sure there is a simple solution to this, but I cant seem to get it!

When I press the shutter on my d700, it takes a second for the image to be actually taken, it only happens when im using the flash though, it works fine if the flash isn't attached. Anyone know what is causing the delay?

The flash is a sb-600.

Just took the external flash off and tried it with the pop up attached and I have the same problem :s Camera works as normal though when there is no flash being used.

Anyone any ideas?

I sounds to me that you are set in rear curtain mode, this is where the flash fires as the shutter is about to close. press the flash button on your camera and look what it says on your LCD, if is displays " Rear " then change it with you command dial.

Does it only happen on one setting like Aperture Priority?
