Which one would you choose

1,Canon 430ex

2,Sigma EF-500 DG Super ETTL-II Flashgun<<<<canon fit

both second hand and not to far apart cash wise under 140 each ....

Regards Mark.

Hi Mark,
Having had both, I would go for the 430. I can't remember what differences there is between them, but the canon feels well built - way better than the Sigma, and I remember it being smaller too. Don't forget to see what Kerso is asking for them if you are buying new..

I have the Sigma and I'm very pleased with it;) The Sigma will act as a slave or master where as as far as I know the 430 will only act as a slave. Just to confuse things a little more have you thought about a Canon 550EX? They can be had for nearly the same price and will also act as slave or master(y)

In fact here's one I've just found.

seems a bit pricy to me your pratically into brand new Sigma 530 territory (£10-£15) on the bay. I'd take the sigma for the remote flash capabilities allthough that auction link for the canon 550ex is tempting!

Have you looked at the NISSIN for canon? I bought one in the far east for £60 but you can buy in the UK for around £80-90 , it is a good easy to use flash and can be used as a slave too.
I am learning the ropes and this unit is a good intermediate tool that can show you the basics and then be sold on if you need more options, I would recommend this model (Di622) is described here, http://www.photosolution.co.uk/nissin-di622-canon-eos-slrs-p-1357.html
Take a look.

For £140 you can get the 550EX which is a faaaaar superior flash. Have a search on ebay and see what comes up.

Good luck!
