Flickr....what to tick?

Edit My Images
Yes
Settings...........What do I tick to allow viewing of my album, and what else do I tick to stop said visitors from stealing me snaps?
Can we be precise please, as I've tried with no success.

TIA

If it's online, it's "borrowable". The higher resolution at which it's viewable, the more borrowable it will be.

'borrowable'........?
A visitor can use my images elsewhere then, even though I'm 'private'....sort of 'copy and paste'

Yep, what Nod says :)
If you don't want your images nicked, don't post them on the internet.
There are easily acquired add ons to browsers that can download any protected image, however, most people don't bother.
If you still want to edit your permissions just click on your profile pic at top right of your Flickr page, drop down - go to 'settings'
Next is 'privacy and permissions' and then change Global Settings to suit. (It's pretty onvious which ones to change to stop most downloads)

If they can see it, they can get a copy of it. At the most basic, Print Screen will get a small version (good enough for the likes of faceache, twatter etc.) but other tools exist to get higher resolution copies.

I have a simpler solution, my photos are rubbish so no one would bother "borrowing" them :)

You beat me to saying just that! I upload to Flickr full res, I like people to have the option to view them as large as possible if they so desire. I might get annoyed if I seen one of my images used somewhere for commercial purposes, but fat chance ... I'm sure they could find so much better if they couldn't use mine. There's freebie stock photo sites with way better images :D

As has been said, if it is viewable it is 'stealable' but you can limit the damage by using Flickr's 'Settings' for your account (Click on your avatar, top right and click 'Settings).

Here's an example:
capture2.jpg

The largest the files can be shared at is 1024 pixels (line 2).
Only friends and family can download the images (line 1) ... by clicking on 'edit' you can alter that like so:

you reckon do you ??
I specialise mainly in wildlife but do have some general shots as well .. my two BIG payouts for image theft that have been through the mill and paid out by pixys have been of a fairground carousel lit up at night and one of Knossos in Crete both images were stolen by international household name companies ... not my best shots by any stretch of the imagination but still cost both companies in excess of $1000 dollars each .. think again matey

Yeah but you've probably got friends and followers. A typical upload to flickr for me gets about 2 views and one of them is my mum :tumbleweed:

Good ol' mum

I was just thinking on this other day while browsing Flickr. I came across some images that had 500+ likes, and to be Frank, they were IMHO, dull as dishwater [I realise everyone's taste is different but one was an image of a flower, not an exotic, fantastic looking flower just a bog standard purple flower, in the centre of the frame, with a grass backdrop, that's it ... 560 odd likes] - on the other hand I stumbled upon some crackers that had 0 likes even though they were added to groups, [they now at least have 1] others with 3, 4 or 5 likes that I would definitely love to have large prints of! The ones with hundreds of likes ... how are they doing it? not that i would want that kind of attention, but is there some trick to it?

No tricks ,I have a fair amount of people who see my pics ,and some comment on them as well and fave them ,but I also make sure I find time to comment and fave other peoples to .. I add to groups appropriate to the photo I.e macro to macro groups ,birds to birds , airplanes to aviation etc , been on there for around 10 years have several thousands + photos and well over seven million views, nearly 300 explores .. however I don’t regard myself as good just average . And that’s the proper way to do it . The formula works anyway . Faceberk has taken a lot away however and in my opinion has degraded photography terribly
