Does anyone recall what discount deals were on offer at the last Focus Exhibition on Canon 9000 MkII Printers?

I am considering buying on of these printers, but would I be better off waiting until the next exhibition in March rather than buying now with a £50 cashback?

Hi Michael,

quite possibly they will have something new if they are at the next show. I know that £50 - £100 cashback for the 9000 and 9500 offers have been around, but wondered if the showtime offered a further discount or not. It will be interesting to see if they decide not to attend again this year.
 
From what I saw last year there were very little discounts on anything and the show was quite dissapointing from previous years. A lot of the stands just wern't there last year.

Maybe Canon will not be there again, but I need a more capable printer and have been considering the Canon 9000 Mk II as a possibility. Not sure if there was discount at the time of the last show in addition to the cashback offers that have been around.

Interesting. I found the 2011 show to be better than the 2010 one. Quite looking forward to the 2012 show.
 
What is there at FOCUS for someone who doesn't want (need) to buy anything?

I have been toying withthe idea of a 35mm f1.4, but I don't need it and I won't make any more money if I get one. I'll just knock up a bit more to reduce the tax bill by.

So, what does FOCUS offer these days? I haven't been for about 4 years.

a few models to perv over and maybe a lecture or two.

It pretty much depends on what you go for. It's a trade show rather than a hypermarket, bargains aren't what it's there for.

I went last year with a plan of not spending any money at all. I stuck to that plan and thoroughly enjoyed it (although meeting up with friends obviously helped).

There are an awful lot of talks and lectures going on. A lot of new equipment being demonstrated. If you're a wedding tog, there are shedloads of albums and mounting systems that can be physically handled and assessed, which makes future purchasing decisions far easier than trying to gauge the quality via a two inch by three inch image on the monitor! Actually, that goes pretty much for any equipment there too.

lectures and tutorials range from software to lighting, and lots more.

For me, I find the day at Focus to be invaluable, and well worth the trip.
 
Hmmmm, Oh well, if I am not working or it isn't snowing, I might pop down again. I could do with renewing a few old acquaintances with a couple of the manufacturers. Although the staff have probably changed!

Someone on TP is selling a 9000 little used for a great price.

I'm going to go with some friends to focus next year but I'm seriuosly thinking of leaving my plastic friend at home this year, he ended up paying for a minty refurb 1d3 which I lurve.

I'll be looking for some wedding bits and bobs as I've been asked to do 2 friends weddings next year, paaarrrppp not bricking myself already LOL

One thing that can be had is some decent paper cheap, I got some canvas style printing paper ( harmman ) A3+ for £5 a box and it's really nice.

Just go and stroll round, if nothing else it helps your mojo and gives you loads of ideas.
