Focusing issues!

Hi!

I had a portrait session last night which overall went well, but I was having some issues with focusing. It was on my part and not the cameras!

I use a D300s and I normally use single point and select the appropriate focus point, but when moving fast between compositions I found this fiddly and slow. So I then started pre focusing using the centre point and then recomposing, but looking through the shots there are more shots than I would like out of focus.

So my question is, how do you pro's handle your focusing when doing portrait work/ weddings etc? Do you focus lock and then recompose? Or select the correct point each time?

Many thanks in advance

Matt

are you holding the focus on the shutter or back button.
Depending on settings it will refocus when you recompose.

Don't half press - use the AF button - and 51pt 3D - amazing. Focus tracks with you - keep it on (C) always.
