I'm trying unsuccessfully to keep my iMac Desktop uncluttered.
I've imported some music to a Folder on the Desktop called 'Music' and then dragged it into Finder, where it happily sits.
However, how do I clear the Folder 'Music' from the Desktop ... sending it to Trash deletes it and its contents altogether.

Finder is like windows explorer. Desktop is a folder within finder. You’ll need to move the folder from desktop to somewhere else within finder, then it won’t show on desktop anymore.

Thanks, that helped and I have got it off Desktop but it now seems to be in two places at the same time Documents & Music ... deleting either deletes all!

By default "Finder" has a folder called "Music". You don't need to create a second one on your desk top.
