I'm looking for a new tripod as I lost my old tripod and ballhead (giottos vitruvian and kirk bh3)
has to be a 'traveller' style folding tripod, but still be fairly large (nearly eye level without using centre column)
I already have a very small benro travel tripod i bought as a replacement but it's even smaller than the vitruvian I used to have so i'm looking for a bigger/sturdier tripod- I might sell the smaller benro, or keep the smaller benro and get a much bigger 'traditional' tripod and not bother with the folding style, but I would like to stick with the folding style if possible
narrowed it down to the foto pro mgc 684n and the benro c2682- foto pro is £179, benro is £300 but comes with a head (which i'm not sure i'd use unless it was really nice, I really liked the kirk head I used to have)
head to be used will likely be the arcs swiss p0, with my spare kirk clamp up top- head is £200 but if the benro head is good I might not bother (but I like good engineering equally as much as I like useful photography gear and I chose the p0 because it pans around the top of the mount rather than the bottom, so ideal for panoramic shots and meaning that I don't need to buy a rotating clamp)
carbon fibre would be nice but not essential, weight vs cost savings aren't that great but perhaps for vibration dampening I would go carbon fibre
just wondering if anyone has any experience with either product. No where seems to stock either brand so can't look at one in person, might just order the benro from amazon and return it if it's no good
and what do you think about carbon fibre vs aluminum? worth the extra £120?
