Yes
Found a spider today while clearing up so imprisoned it and spent the next hour chasing it round trying to find it in the viewfinder. What do you think? Composition may be a LITTLE off

Hmmmmmmmmm......... where to start ...........

Not really that qualified to give advise, but here goes ........

"Imprisoned" subjects never look their best (remember Nelson Mandela !!!)

Looks like you have used (not very bright) natural light, try some diffused flash, which will help to "freeze" your subject.

Stop down your lens as far as possible f11, f13 is good

DOF is not that great at this close, and you need to focus on the subjects eyes (i know thats not easy but it will make or break your shot)

Dont make things difficult for yourself by "chasing" ......... Patience is a fantastic thing, One good shot is better than 50 duffers.

Keep trying,,,,,,,,,, It will come together ........ (have a practice on les mobile subjects. once you have sorted lighting etc out, this should remain fairly constant for most subjects, only requiring slight mods as you shoot)

Others will have some input I am sure .....

Dave ....

I did try for the eyes but he had eight hands covering them

Thanks for the tips (y)
