Fuji xt2 manual focus distance scale

On the Fuji XT2 when you manual focus it has a distance indicator that also includes the depth of field. Does anyone know how accurate the depth of field indicator is?
I have a the 23mm f2 and at f16 the hyper focal distance is about 2m, according to some calculators. However according to the camera the depth of field doesn’t extend to infinity until you focus at about 6m, with the depth of field ranging from 3m-infinity.
I only ask as I’ve using a Rollei 35 and have been enjoying stopping it down and “not having to focus”. I was hoping that the scale would be helpful but it doesn’t appear to be accurate.
I’m guessing the depth of field indicator is just showing what is in fairly sharp focus rather than acceptable focus but it still seems way off

I use manual focus with the scale on the X100f pretty much all of the time especially for street and find it to be pretty accurate tbh
That’s odd as on my X100VI it’s not accurate at all from my experience, although I’ve only tried AF. The focus distance is correct, but the blue markers showing the focus range is only just outside the focus point even though I know I’m at or beyond the hyperfocal distance and the markers should go out to infinite. I’ll try it in manual focus and see if that makes a difference.

Does the X-T2 have the digital or film DOF settings in the menu? If it does the digital DOF is much narrower than the film DOF , assuming digital if for on screen pixel peeping, the film DOF relates to how DOF would look when printed. Don't ask the size of print or viewing distance, I lost interest reading the article / blog and moved on.

I've just come on to post exactly this, after playing with my X100VI I found out that the focus distance scale has two settings, pixel or film. When set to pixel the range is only just either side of the focus distance, and does not seem to get any wider or narrower regardless of the focus distance. I changed it to film format and now the range scale works as expected, i.e. the range changes depending on focus distance, and at the hyperfocal the range does go up to infinity (y)
