#1 is slightly let down by the fact that the bird is too close to the left and is looking out that way.
#2 shows really good timing although the framing is slightly out, wing clipped
#3 pick of the bunch for me, like that a lot
#4 like it although I think it could stand a tiny bit more sharpening

1) Agreed, but there was something distracting just outside of where it was cropped I think, will check the RAW again.
2) Yup. Always the way isn't it... Also the risk of shooting BIF with primes.

4) I try to be reasonably hands-off with sharpening (and if you look at my comments on photos you'll see "over sharpened" is something of a theme). I also find it depends greatly on monitor - my calibrated RGBLED display seems to need much less sharpening than other displays I use. Certainly in that image the one eye is not quite sharp.
