Getting film out a 126 cartridge

So I have this single 126 cartridge that was in my dads old Kodak Instamatic. It branded as Max Speilman but absolutely no idea about its age, my dad has been gone for 20 years so it's as old as that.

Now that I have some C41 chemicals I'd like to try and develop the roll. From my understanding 126 is just 35mm but with less sprockets?

Is there anything I need to be aware of when breaking open the cartridge, is there a technique to it?

any tips or advice on developing such an old film will also be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
Mark.

Just an update.

Developed the film, was pretty painless even though it was Curly McCurly

Sadly most of the frame where blank however I have got some frames out of it. With the oldest being at least 30 years old and the newest 20.

(Late to the party...)

I have a couple of these that I respool for using 35mm in my Instamatics, so if you didn't destroy it getting it open and managed to salvage it, and haven't thrown it away, you can bid on a fantastic Instamatic 500 and make your own 126 images!

Or not of course.... :)
