GF2 Announced

Was going to buy a GF-1 soon, might hold off until January for this one. Wonder how much the big retailers will charge for it.

I would look at the olly pens now, this is a total Panasonic fail designed for girlies and not photographers. :gag:

Had another look on the net about the gf2 and it seems the gf1 is the better bet. I'll have a look at the olly, Since I'm getting rid of my dslr stuff to downsize I want the best compact you can get quality and size (smallest) matters to me now and able to shoot raw.

I think people had their hopes too high with the GF2, many seemed to be expecting Panasonic to defy the laws of physics and integrate a high resolution EVF while getting the size down and keeping all the controls. I don't think it's as bad as is being made out, it still has the command dial which I would miss as the lack of control dials puts me off the E-PL1. The lack of mode dial isn't much of an issue as I tend to stay in Aperture priority and I can't say the missing mode dial on the D700 or E-3 has ever been an issue. The GF2 looks to still have direct access to iso, WB and drive mode plus the touch screen should hopefully make focus selection easier.

At the same time I doubt I'll be upgrading from the GF1, the new one looks a bit smaller but not enough to really change its use and it doesn't offer many advantages.
