I am hoping to go on my first trip to Gigrin Farm this year. I am currently between long lenses and so I am thinking of hiring a lens. I have a Nikon D750 and a Z6, What lens would you recommend for a visit to Gigrin?

I have never been to Gigrin but have been to Bellymack Farm in Dumfries many, many times and use the Z8 with the 180-600mm, think you need a zoom no matter where you go for the Kites as you don't have the luxury of being able to step backwards(no space for that) maybe the 100-400mm would do the job but as I say never been to Gigrin so don't no the layout. I have recently sold an old Sigma 100-300mm f4 and haven’t replaced it yet. Currently my longest lens is a 70-200mm f2.8.

Been to Gigrin a few times and the 100-400 (Canon) was my lens of choice, although on a crop body at the time. Even on full frame, I think 100-400 (or the Nikon equivalent) would do the job, the kites do often get very close to the hides and they're large birds too.

I've used the same lens at Bellymack on full frame and filled the frame there, it's much the same at Gigrin in that respect, although there are more hides at Gigrin and the light can be better there.
