I have just tried to process my first batch of RAW images, using Gimp. However, when I uploaded the batch to Gimp and selected an image, it couldn't process it because it couldn't read the RAW file. Gimp instructed me to download Raw Therapee 5.2 which I have done, but I still cannot open any of the RAW files. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I also import the files to a folder and can see them. The problem is that Gimp cannot edit them. So I downloaded Raw Therapee, could see them on there, but how do I edit and save them as jpg's in either Gimp or Raw Therapee?

I tried to load a RAW file (Pentax) into Gimp. It popped up with a message saying that it couldn't do it and that I should load "something " via Darktable or RawTherapee. I have Darktable loaded and that sees the RAW file. I guess that maybe there's a module or similar that can be attached to GIMP from Darktable or Ratherapee that will allow it, or a way to export it to GIMP.

In RawTherapee once you have located the file you click on it and it should take that file into editor. The controls you need will be on your right. Once you've adjusted it to your satisfaction there ought to be a save icon on the bottom left. If you then click on that you will get a window, and the option to save as a JPEG. At least on my version. It is perhaps not the simplest layout, but once you get to grips with it, it's fine. That's the layman's version, and hopefully it's something simple like that.
