Hi all, recently changed from a D200 to a S5pro, something I certainly do not regret.

My 170mm-500mm Sigma APO DG now seems redundant though, so I'm tempted to part with it and get something for portrait and landscape photography.

At the moment I have only a nifty fifty and a not very good 18-55mm kit lens that came with my D40.

Any suggestions?

How about

Sigma 30mm or Nikkor 35mm

and

Sigma 10-20mm or Nikkor equivalent for landscapes

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 if you're on a budget, 17-55 Nikon if you have the dosh.

Other than that, 12-24 f/4 Nikon or Tokina if you're after a seriously wide zoom or get something flash like a 24-70mm AF-S for portraiture.

The world is you're oyster....

Having used a S5 for over a year I've found most Nikon glass works well. Had some great results with the cheap 55-200 and with the 18-70.
Sigma EX lenses are good too, I have their 10-20mm, 15-30mm and 28mm f1.8 Macro, which is stunning lens.
The S5 might be a bit slow at writing files, but you certainly won't beat it for IQ (whatever glass you use).

Completely out of focus, but I'm looking for a lens for my Nikon. How much would you want for the sigma? I also have a gorgeous 85mm 1.8 AF-D...that I might be able to persuade my mum to part with...;)
