I am looking into purchasing a AD360 and then came across this. It seems to tick all the boxes and will allow for outdoor flash photography also.

Is it worth waiting a while a letting the prices come down and settle?

Godox told us that they were going to develop this 3 years ago, and they've finally done it, and leaving aside the question of whether or not TTL is a real benefit to serious photographers or just a marketing feature, we're left with the real question of whether or not the product will (1) work as claimed and (2) be reliable, and my best guess is that there will be teething problems.

So, if you really think that it's worth having TTL, my advice would be to wait, perhaps for a year, to see what happens, because my best guess is that no bricks and mortar business will touch it with the proverbial bargepole, which means that it will have to be bought from one of the many Ebay sellers based in Hong Kong, none of which will honour whatever warranty they claim to provide. In that time, prices may reduce a bit, but not much, because they are already working on tiny margins.

How much do you think you'll need ETTL? I never use it when in a static situation and I wouldn't use something as large as the AD360 in a dynamic situation.

For me, the biggest benefit of the ETTL model is that it'll drive down the price of the older one.;)

I think this is what I will end up doing anyhow.
 
remember though this model also provides radio master for canon - so can be used wireless with the speed lights - very useful ! i will be ordering one...
 
The battery pack looks identical to the one I use to power my 580EX2 flashes remotely. Works really well.
 
Split in two minds at the moment, also I have a Nikon set up not Canon. But like Gary said will wait for real reviews.

Isn't the only difference, that with the new one the receiver is built in, whereas with the older model you have to plug in the usb receiver?

You still need a radio trigger on the camera, not like it's integrated with Canon's 600EX, etc.

Yes you still need the transmitter, but the biggest difference surely is the ETTL capability.

I think it does canon and Nikon ttl when off camera, but canon only when on camera, but I don't know if it's likely to be used on camera?
