Never see them around here. Well I don't anyway.:p Nice picture and looking forward to the others.

That was quick. :D

Thanks Andy.....yeh the 'big freeze' in my laptop has 'thawed' (y) so got the other 3 up.......

They don't like to hang around either so only got a few snaps before it disappeared :crying: and half that time was spent trying to adjust mt camera settings!!

Well done Tom.Nice shots, Is this mine paying you a visit? Perhaps your feeders are tastier.(y) regards Rob.

Oooh,he/she's gorgeous,lovely pic's :)

Cracking shots of one of my favourite little birds.

You shoudn't really be feeding birds bread. Whilst it isn't exactly harmful in itself, it does fill their stomachs quickly and makes them feel full, but has no nutritional value for them whatsoever so really isn't good for them at all.

Tis said digestive biscuits crumbled up very fine is good for Goldcrests.

Nice set Tom with No.3 being my pick of the bunch.

I was more interested in how it has been attracted to the bird table, as my goldcrests never seem to stray from the fir trees, to the feeders.
That's exactly the problem - they never stray far fom fir trees for long. I've had a fleeting glimps of one once in my garden and it was in a dwarf fir tree.

Thanks all for taking time out to comment and glad you like!!

I rarley put bread out at home....only if I have a few crusts left over...but I can't see the problem with it...bread has been fed to birds I should think since bread was first baked?? (may be wrong lol) but I've never seen/heard of it being a problem to birds before...

Thanks again :)

The thing is Tom, birds like anything else birds will eat practicaly anything if they are hungry enough, and as mentioned it does not do them any good at all, even more so this time of year when natural food is still thin on the ground. Have a quick look through these Tom and see if you think it is still a good idea  ;)

Read the times one and Chris Packham would'nt advise against it.....I see and know that it's not as beneficial as bird feed (which I put out in abundance). I hardly put any bread out as we eat most of it but the odd stale one will be left to the birds rather than the bin....these pics were not taken in my garden so have no say in what food is put out for them

Funnily enough I would have said the same just over a week ago but we had a Goldcrest coming down out of the fir to feed on the fatballs middle of last week, spent a good 20 secs munching then flits off in to a nearby shrub to return about 10-20 mins later.....unfortunately it seems that that was a one off as I haven't seen it doing the same since.

Fair enough comment Tom, however I once seen Packham on tv showing people how to get close up to a Kingfisher near a stream to observe them. No mention that it was a schedule one protected bird, and if anybody was caught doing it near a nest site that they could face a heavy fine or a jail possible sentance. Going back to the bread though, I was not trying to start an arguement ;) I should have mentioned that personally I dont put any out at all.

Hi Rich...yes realised you were not trying to start an arguement and I hope I did'nt come across as argumentative.......
