As it will allow for the making of much simpler high definition lenses, it may not add much to the price overall, though that will depend on how well it lends itself to automation.
i wonder if they could compensate for diffraction in a similar way.
 
All sounds good and promising, but I am afraid we may be already going down with simpler awful lenses that get a lot of corrections in software even directly in camera to achieve that clean image. Sony is already doing that with their lower end kit and Canon in some regards is not far behind.

We can all pack up and go home when Zeiss start popping profile correction CD's into their Otis boxes.
 
Hopefully an end to the ridiculous honking great primes that Sigma and the like are currently peddling
