good filters

Just wandering what are some good filters to buy for my 70-200

its a 77mm filter thats needed but I am after something good to help with outdoor portraits mainly !

I have no idea when it comes to filters

You might find a polarising filter useful to remove reflections from glasses; and if using black and white film you might find a yellow filter useful to suppress freckles, and a blue filter to use with male portraits all filters will degrade the image slightly. Quite likely not enough to be noticeable, but they will still have an effect. And all filters will introduce flare, which might only be a reduction in contrast, but could result in ugly bright spots.

Filters should only be used if there is no alternative to using them.
