Grad filters and holders

Hi all, thinking I should get a grad filter for shooting landscapes. What's cheapo and decent in a 77mm fitting?

I'd have to suggest you bite the bullet and buy quality rather than cheap. In my experience if you buy cheap, you tend to buy twice.

Also buying into a format like Lee of Cokin will give flexibility of use with different lens sizes in the future.

I use 100mm Hitech filters and have no complaints other than a bit of a purple cast (easily fixed in LR) when I stack 3 of them together.

I had cokin slide in ones back in the day on my film SLR. They still the standard? I'm only really after an ND grad as I'll fix any colour I want after in LR...

You're probably best buying into a system, like Lee.

Placing a grad into a holder and sliding it up and down will give you greater versatility than a screw in filter. You also would then have the option of stacking a couple of filters.

I don't know what budget you have and his serious you want to take landscape photography but it would be Lee all day long if you have the funds.

I'd go with 'slot in' rather than a dedicated sized circular.

Hitech are pretty good in terms of bang for buck.........
