Curse the weather today, its really dull/grey here today, meant to be shooting a portrait session for a friend today followed by some car stuff with some other mates. This weather, I really struggle with.

Such a shame as it was lovely and sunny yesterday.

Any tips for when its horrid like this?!

No chance of getting out here today it's dull and dreary - where's the sun?! Maybe tomorrow

Dull overcast is just a really big (but dingy) softbox. Expose accordingly and you'll be fine...

Dull, grey sky with drizzle thrown in here.

For a portrait session though, overcast isn't really a bad thing.

Portraits in fog - use a flash. Gives an almost monotone, soft focus background but the (portrait) subject is really lifted out by the flash. Did a whole Army parade yesterday in the fog, they all turned out fine.

ive been out into Derbyshire today hoping to shoot some running water and a few landscapes but the light was awful it seemed to have an orange tint to it and the fog was so bad you couldn't see more than about a hundred yards so i never got out of the car and came home.

B&W images, use backdrops with no sky etc

Don't think of it as a grey day, be positive and call it "moody and atmospheric". I have to do that as I live in Scotland and we have a lot of mood and atmosphere up here.

Yep worked out fine other than having to go high with the ISO etc and avoid the sky as a background. Well fine for the person shoot, no good for the cars as by 4pm it was dark!

Used the flash for the portrait stuff and it helped alot.
