Grip for 20D - Genuine or third party?

HI everyone.

I'm shopping around for a grip for my 20D.

I'm just wondering if you think it's better to go for a genuine Canon BG-E2N Grip or go for a third party one?

I don't mind paying second hand for a genuine canon one.

mpb have some second hand canon bg-e2's and bg-e2n's on the site. i have the e2 on my 30d and it's great, the e2n adds better weather sealing if i remember correctly?

the 3rd party versions probably won't have the weather sealing so how important is it to you? is it worth spending the extra cash on the canon to get it?

I do attend alot of rally events which can get quite dusty , but i've never had any problems with my lenses and dust. A simple clean using a blower and an old toothbrush usually works ( sensor if necessary aswell ) so i don't see what the problem would be with the grip.

IF it rain's i use rainsleeves anyway so waterproof shouldn't be an issue either...

i would go with one of the link delight or meike 3rd party grips then, they are cheaper than the second hand canon models and seem to get a good write up on here from people who have them. the only reason i have a canon grip is because it came with the camera when i bought it from the forum classifieds, other than that i would have went with the third party item.
 
I had the same dilemna - go for a new third party grip or a used Canon BG-E2N. I chose the latter, mainly because of how solid the canon grip is. Used prices are also coming down all the time, I got mine mint, boxed with the battery tray for about £50.

MPB got a canon 20D grip for sale. around £69 i think. I don't think the 20D canon grip will cost too much these days now? i think
 
had a meike/linkdelight grip on my 20D for years and its fantastic. solid build and less prone to getting stuck on the body like the canon and its fragile screw system.

re weather sealing - the 20D isnt sealed anyway.
