Yes
I've been contacted by a publishing house in Spain who would like to use one of my images. they've asked me for a quotation and payment terms. This has never happened to me before, I'm a little confused as to what I should say or do. I would be really gratefull for any help or advice from you guys.

with kind thanks in advance....

Haven't got a clue but b****y well done my son

regards

You'll need to find out how many pictures, what size, what the publication is, how big the publication is (what is its distribution), are they using them just once or several times, do they want exclusivity?..all those factors will have a bearing on the price. As for payment terms..you have the money in your bank and then they get the pictures.

Find out the above and we can help you some more...oh and Well done :thumb:

Here is the responce from the publishing house in Spain I've also put a link to the image they are interested in http://www.pbase.com/davey_uk/image/43521408

All help and advice most welcome

Thank you very much for your quick response.
Please find below my comments:
What is the publication?
Book. Roman.
How big is the publication (what is its distribution)?
Print run of 3000 copies. Only Spain.
Are you using them just once or several times?
Only for this book, firt editon and several reprints.

What size image are they using, is it to be included in the book or is it for the cover? Those are very important and could make a big difference to price. Be careful with the print run...they are initially printing only 3000 copies but do state that there will be SEVERAL reprints. That could amount to many thousands maybe with time?

There is some very good advice in this thread

This link provided by Dod is also very interesting and should give you an idea of pricing.

At the end of the day though, you may just be happy with “something for nothing” so to speak, and have a few £££ in your pocket to offset the costs of your equipment. Plus you will be able to boast about having one of your images in print.

A great deal depends on how you feel and what course you would like your photography to take.

My favourite stock agency would rush them £75 for a 1 page photo inside a book, limited to 1 years use and a print run of up to 10,000. For distribution only in spain.

HTH?
