Hahnel Combi TF and Metz 44 AF compatibility?

i bought a Hahnel combi TF for my G1 and metz 44af flashgun. however the flash won't trigger remotely. i can get the triggers to work with a borrowed Nikon SB600 and an old Minolta 3500xi. Just wondered if anyone had come across a compatibility issue with these two?

I'm going to ring Hahnel in the morning but they have been driving me crazy all weekend, anyone able to put me out of my misery?
