This place is collosal, and yet it looks as though almost every inch of the interior is either intricately carved or polished. IIRC it can take 25,000 people inside and double that in the courtyards surrounding the building.

Someone has to keep it clean!

Sigma 12-24 makes a great lens for interiors, though it can cause some odd perspective effects.

About halfway down the ceiling can be seen a ridge, and this is where the roof separates to open and allow cooling air in from outside (or probably hot air up & out, cooler air in at the bottom).

This is the foyer that leads down to the area for washing before worshippers can pray.

Thanks gents.

did you visit Rabat?

That was as much as we saw - it was straight on to the ruins at Volubilis for lunch & the rest of the day. We need to go back to Morocco some time, spend more time in some places, less in others.
