Yes
Just been accepted for the Jessops 6months finace on a lens.I went for the Sigma 85mm 1.4 for my Sony A700 after seeing so many great pics on here and other places with it.But now I'm wondering if I have gone for the right lens for a cropped sensor?Don't think I will be using it indoors much so I suppose the extra reach won't be that much of a problem.Anyone have this lens on a cropped sensor camera?

Its a cracking lens on any camera. Wish I had one!

Yeah the pics I have seen taken with it have been wonderful. Was just a bit worried about the extra reach of it on a cropped sensor.Want it mainly for taking pics of the kids but hopefully for doing some portrait work at some point as well.

I have the canon 85mm 1.8 and the focal length is great for portraits, street stuff, low light holiday stuff, it's a nice length on a crop.

The Sigma 1.4 variant is a supurb lens.

Enjoy!

Honestly, I don't think it's the right length. I think the Sony has a 1.6 crop, which would make this a 136mm lens, which for indoor is way too close. I think you would have been better with a 35mm (56mm) for general photos or a 50mm (80mm) for portrait stuff. Unless you are doing face shots, even 50mm might be too long... I think you have a good point, and I would try to change it if you can...

Balls. He said he wont be using it indoors much, therefore its a great length and a cracking lens, much better than any 35 or 50mm available.

I have the Sony 30mm 2.8 which I have used for indoor portraits which does a pretty good job.The Sigma will be used more for outdoors Assassin but I think that I will get the 50mm after I have paid for the 85mm..Cheers for advice guys.

I nearly bought this lens the other month from the same retailer on the same offer. It's a really nice lens, although I've read it's slow to focus. In the end I decided to wait until I get a 5DmkIII for more benefit on FF and went for a 60D instead.

By the way, if that lens isn't currently in stock, good luck getting any form of response from Jessops. They are literally the worst company I've ever dealt with. Whoever posts on Twitter from them told me they'd point out my problems to the customer service manager, and I still haven't heard anything. They are deliberately vague in their ETA for the camera "soon", "shortly" and the latest reply I got after badgering them was "mid June, but we can't guarantee that", followed by "we are in contact with Canon, daily". If this is the case, an update to someone that just shelled out over £1000 with them would be nice.

To say I'm annoyed is an understatement, and I'll never use them again. A month ago today I ordered the camera (which was showing as in stock when I ordered it), and I've had 2 emails from them, and only after I phoned and complained that they weren't replying.
