Have most Snow Leopard problems been fixed, is it time to upgrade?

I have been putting off Snow Leopard, as I heard a lot of horror stories. Is it all sorted now?

I use office, Aperture, Photoshop CS3, and the usual web itunes etc.

Am thinking this and Aperture 3 come pay day.

So what are peoples thoughts, am I likely to get any problems, or are most of the bugs sorted now?

Cheers in advance
Carl

I don't think that there were many to be honest least not for my 3 machines that are running it. There is not much difference other than it being mainly 64 bit. The biggest problem were a few driver issues, my Epson R2400 was a problem and so was the HP 6280's scanner software although it's web based one is OS independent. (The Epson drivers were fixed quite quickly, not sure about the HP as I just use the web based scanner - it is a network attached scanner/printer)

Just running in home environment. Just home network with other macs, just heard there was some issues, but sounds like most have been solved. Maybe I was just being paranoid (more likely than not )

You always get a few minor glitches as they can't test every possible combination but most home problems have gone away.

I had two issues with snow leopard and went back to leopard because of it.

They were:

Microsoft entourage messages not showing up in spotlight

Flash CS3 randomly crashing

both of these things I need every single day for my job so I still don't have snow leopard installed. This release was very un-mac like in that I've never had problems like this before -ever!

Has Flash not been sorted?

I have found Snow Leopard stable but I never use Flash or Entourage :) I left Leopard on my Mac Pro until only a couple of months ago. I changed to Snow Leopard on my laptop straight away but had to print to the R2400 using Apple Remote and dragging the image files onto the Pro's desktop then accessing it remotely and printing from there but Epson then released new drivers.

On both my desktop and laptop Snow Leopard has been the best one yet, not had any problems with PS CS3, Capture One, Office, Transmit, so far....

AP3 is now miles better than the first version they released. Still get occasional crashes and niggles though.
It's also significantly faster than AP2 was on my Macbook.

Never had any issues with Snow Leopard though and upgraded on the day it was released.

No problems here with PS CS4, LR3 Beta - LR2 I can't get to work though. Aperture demo works fine too.

Generally seems to make my 3 year + old Macbook run a lot more smoothly in fact.

i could go on a rant about it but id get labelled as a mac hater again lol

Wasn't Windows Vista just a big beta test for Windows 7 ;)

actually vistas issues were more down to hardware vendors. but this isnt a mac vs pc thread.

go for it, you're rants are always worth a chuckle

nah its okay, im not that bitter its just a pain in the arse for a busy design dept to workaround..

for the record i actually like mac hardware, and while the OS isnt for me personally i can see its merits :) (before any of my comments attract too many anti windows replies :D )

No issues from me ay home, I mainly only run CS4 though software wise

I run NAS plus printers with no problems

Converted to SL when it came out & for the first week had a few issues on the IMac but kept the MacBook on Leopard, Epson soon fixed their issues & one or two other S/W issues all fixed now. Adobe had some issues but although havent seen any updates CS4 works fine. The new IMac i7 came with SL on. The latest SL 10.6.3 did require me to download an update to Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner. Running now on both machines under 64bit (except CS4 Adobe problem) and never crashes so happy with it.

Not so sure about Aperture 3 though purchased it had nothing but problems so reverted back to LR2 & will purchase the upgrade to LR3 when it comes out. I'll forget APerature 3 and put it down to a bad exprience

I'd demand a refund!

As long as all the patches to SL, Aperture 3 and Office are applied you shouldn't have any problems. Also, check that your Exchange server is fully patched with the Exchange updates.
53 Macs in my old office run fine with it once fully patched.
